Daycare Evaluation


Following is a list of  goals for puppies staying at daycare. (All items will likely not be achieved with every pup, unless additional time is invested.)

 Ÿ      Elevation and/or Handling

 Ÿ       Approached by multiple people without fear “Say Hi”

 Ÿ       Approaches multiple people without fear “Say Hi”

 Ÿ       Approaches obviously friendly dogs without fear “Say Hi”

 Ÿ       Allows restraint for at least 30 seconds “Settle”

 Ÿ       Walks easily on a leash without pulling or dragging “Easy”

 Ÿ       Accepts close tethering “Settle”

 Ÿ       Comfortable “Settle” and “Quiet” in a run or kennel alone

 Ÿ       Comfortable being passed between people “Say Hi”      

 Ÿ       Holds still for health check “Hold Still”

 Ÿ       Received basic ear clean then a cookie “Hold Still”, “Good”

 Ÿ       Been on every exam, X-ray and grooming table in the hospital, and food treated “Good”

 Ÿ       “Sit” for food treat with command and hand signal

 Ÿ       Use “Get Busy” command multiple times before elimination

 Ÿ       Not afraid of clippers - sound or contact      

 Ÿ       Nails trimmed (Hold Still),  then given treats (“Good”).

 Ÿ       Accepts routine brushing of coat

 Ÿ       Accepts brushing of teeth

 Ÿ       No fearful cowering or behaviors noted
