If you are a pet owner struggling with
unwanted pet
behaviors,
your veterinarian may establish a
consulting relationship with
a Animal Behavior
Network veterinary behavior
consultant.
Veterinary
Consulting Relationship.
Veterinarians consult with
Dr. Rolan Tripp on client
pet behavior cases
at no charge through the Antech
Diagnostic Laboratory
Consultation Service.
Veterinarians wanting to
keep pets and clients in the
practice may "hand off" behavior
cases by requesting support
services from Dr. Tripp's
Behavior Practice and the
Network. Client compliance with
recommendations is the weak link
in behavior cases. The Network
allows the client easy,
convenient, directed education
with phone and email support so
that steps can be further
customized along the way. The
first sign of results are often
seen at 2 weeks, good results as
early as 2 months. However,
experience tells us that
learning is much more solid at
around 4 months. Therefore,
programs typically continue as
medications, (if they were
indicated) and structure is
phased out. Pet parents can
cancel programs easily at any
time.
Veterinarians
may also request clients contact

services at

current President. Both Tara and

of the Veterinary Technician
journal, April 2007 and Aprril

Pet
Behavior Analysis Steps
1. The attending Veterinarian
faxes a form
to 1-800-372-3706 requesting
a pet
behavior history analysis be
offered on their behalf to a
client with a pet behavior
problem.
2.
An Veterinary
Behavior Technician
contacts the client
on behalf of
Dr. Rolan Tripp to explain
and offer the service.
If the client
makes the appointment, payment
is applied (Shopping Cart)
and a pet
behavior history form - the
PetEthogram™
- is sent to the client by email
to
complete from the convenience of
home and and submit online for
evaluation by a veterinary
behavior consultant.
3.
The veterinary behavior
consultant calls the client to
go over the report that is sent
to the pet's attending
veterinarian (ADVM).
4.
The Analysis
report
includes: probable causes for
the misbehavior, prognosis for
improvement with treatment,
suggested behavior therapy and
further diagnostics that are
indicated and an offer to
support the client with a
behavior modification education
program sent to the client at
home with follow-up support
provided by a veterinary
behavior technician on behalf of
Dr. Rolan Tripp and the pets'
veterinary practice.
Behavior case results cannot be
guaranteed because pet owners
and pets are individuals and may
or may not be willing or able to
follow a program.
However, satisfaction with
services and education are
guaranteed.
Lists of
client and veterinarian
references are available upon
request.
