- “Gentling” is a combination of handling techniques designed to result in
- 1: Decreased tendency for adult dog aggression
esp. dominant aggressive or a fear biter
- 2: Adult dog bonded to “owner as leader”
- 3: A dog who is easily handled throughout life by vet, groomer or owner

- Have owner pick up and hand it back first
- Suspend puppy or press against your body
- Hold so he can’t bite or escape
- Ignore the pup, relax, talk to owner
- As pup relaxes, begin to relax pressure
- Offer a food treat to assess stress level
- Recommend puppy training classes
