Why provide proper housing?
Suitable
housing and bedding make
it easier to raise the cat
of your dreams and to extend your cat's lifespan.
If your cat lives indoors with the family, your cat will be more eager
to learn house rules and to
please the family.
Indoor cats are more likely to adopt human families as their own. Keeping
your cat indoors will make it easier for you to become a positive
pet parent
Cats that aren't properly housed are more likely to get sick and may lose the
look of robust, healthy cats. If your cat lives indoors,
your cat will live a longer, happier, healthier life.
If your cat does not seem well-rested or
eager to see you each morning, consult with your cat's veterinarian to be sure
there are no unidentified areas of discomfort or disease.
What is
proper housing and bedding?
If you don't want cat fur where
you sit, give your cat
attractive alternative resting
areas.
Provide
one or more,
easy-to-clean, comfy cat beds placed carefully in locations that will attract
your cat. Cat
beds often come with
washable pads. Use
hair removers made for human
clothes to keep the cat bed
clean and wash bedding
regularly.
Cats like to be clean, like curl up to
sleep and like being up high where they can survey their territory indoors and
outdoors. Place cat beds in high, draft free locations.
Kennel
train your cat
Place an extra comfy bed inside of a kennel that you want to use for traveling
with your cat by car, train or
plane. Introduce the kennel
by feeding your cat inside.
Only begin to close the kennel door during feeding after
your cat will go in and out
of the kennel at will. Praise lavishly when you close the door. Choose
a kennel that allow the cat to feel as if it is hiding. Make it cozy and
snug in size, large enough for your cat to stand up, lay down, and turn around.
According to statistics, indoor pets are more likely to live longer, healthier,
and happier lives! |
