Getting
Started - Feline communications
How to talk cat
Cats use their senses to
communicate.
Visual:
Cats read body postures, tail, head, body, and ear positions (Must
be hard for cats to read our bodies.)
Tactile:
Cats rub against others and objects, touch noses, groom each other.
(Try rubbing noses:-)
Sound:
Cats purr, growl, and vocalize to express themselves. (Cats read our voice tone.)
Smell:
Cats mark territory and possessions using their feces and urine, by spraying and placing
pheromones from paw pads and cheek areas.
Cats give and read both body and facial expressions. You can
learn to recognize offensive and defensive postures as well as
willingness or unwilling to interact.
Feliway is a
pheromone-based product that comes from the mother cat's scent that
kittens learn associate with being safe. Feliway
communicates comfort to calm cats and lower stress. |
