Getting Started -
Kittens and children
Do not leave the

from the start and supervise all interactions. Teach children how to
be gentle and play nicely.
Ground rules: 1) Never grab, squeeze, chase, hit, or in any other way
scare or hurt the kitten. 2) Never hold a kitten against his will.
3) No
rough housing. 4) Do not allow the kitten to play bite or scratch.
5) Give
a kitten privacy when using its litterbox. 6) No lifting the kitten by
the belly, head, or tail. 7) No tail pulling.
Instruction: 1) Show children how to
put a finger out to greet a kitten. 2) Show children how to be gentle and pet a kitten.
3) Show children how to use toys to play with a kitten. 4) Have children
sit quietly and toss treats to the kitten. 5) Show children how to sit quietly and hand feed the kitten
part of its meal. 6) Teach children how to gently hold the kitten on
their laps.
